Questions Fréquemment Posées

F.A.Q

General

1. What is SSL Certificates?

SSL stands for Secure Sockets Layer, which is a security protocol used to encrypt data that is transmitted over the internet. SSL is commonly used to secure online transactions, such as credit card payments, and to protect sensitive information, such as login credentials and personal data.

2. How to install SSL Certificate?

Ensure proper nameservers: When you sign up for a web hosting account, your welcome email will contain a unique set of nameservers that allows you to connect your domain to your hosting account. Ensure that your nameservers are properly set. If you are using a third-party to manage your DNS, such as Cloudflare, and you’re using their name servers, Auto SSL may not function properly.

View the SSL Certificate in cPanel: With your nameservers properly set, the SSL module will automatically verify your domain, generate the SSL certificate, and install it on your web hosting package; requiring no further action on your end. You can verify this by logging into cPanel -> SSL/TLS Status.

Ensure your website is configured properly: With your SSL certificate generated and installed, you must make sure your website is only making calls from https and not http. If you’re using WordPress to publish your website, you can easily set this by logging into wp-admin -> Settings -> General and changing the WordPress Address (URL) and Site Address (URL) to include https. If you’re manually coding your website, make sure all your CSS, JavaScript, and other on-page elements are being called from https.

AutoSSL automatically renews certificates as long as your nameservers remain intact, so no further action is necessary. If you encounter any common problems, talk with our support.

3.What is website migration?

Website migration is the process of moving a website from one web hosting provider to another. It is an important consideration for website owners who want to switch to a new hosting provider or upgrade to a better hosting plan.

4. What is a content management system (CMS)?

A content management system (CMS) is a software application that allows website owners to create, manage, and publish digital content, such as web pages, blog posts, and images.

5. What is a dedicated IP address?

A dedicated IP address is an Internet Protocol (IP) address that is exclusively assigned to a particular hosting account or domain name. Unlike shared IP addresses, which are shared among multiple hosting accounts, a dedicated IP address is unique to a specific account, which can offer some benefits.

One of the most significant advantages of having a dedicated IP address is that it allows you to use SSL certificates to secure your website. SSL certificates require a unique IP address to establish a secure connection between the website and the user’s web browser. Additionally, having a dedicated IP address can improve your website’s reputation and reliability, as it is less likely to be impacted by activities that occur on other websites sharing the same server.

6. What is FTP?

FTP stands for File Transfer Protocol, which is a standard network protocol used to transfer files between a client and a server over the internet. FTP allows users to upload, download, and manage files on a remote server through a user-friendly interface. It is often used by web developers to upload website files to a web server, as well as by businesses to transfer large files between computers. FTP clients, such as FileZilla, Cyberduck, and WinSCP, are commonly used to connect to FTP servers and manage file transfers.

7. What is bandwidth?

Bandwidth in web hosting refers to the amount of data that is allowed to be transferred between your website and visitors who access your website over a certain period of time. Bandwidth is typically measured in bytes, kilobytes (KB), megabytes (MB), or gigabytes (GB) per month.

When someone visits your website, they are downloading data from your website (such as images, videos, and text) to their device, and the amount of data downloaded counts towards your monthly bandwidth limit. If your website receives a lot of traffic or has a lot of data-intensive content, such as large images or videos, you may need to choose a web hosting plan with a higher bandwidth limit to avoid exceeding your limit and potentially incurring additional charges.

8. What is it web builder ?

A web builder is a software tool that allows you to create websites without having to write code from scratch. It typically provides a drag-and-drop interface for building pages, and offers pre-designed templates and customizable widgets to make the process easier.

Elementor is a popular web builder plugin for WordPress. It allows users to create custom page layouts using a drag-and-drop interface, and provides a wide range of widgets, templates, and design tools to help you create a professional-looking website without needing advanced coding skills. With Elementor, you can also create responsive designs that will look great on mobile devices and tablets. Overall, Elementor is a powerful tool for building websites, especially if you’re using WordPress as your CMS.

9. How often should I back up my website and how can I do it?

Backing up your website is crucial to prevent data loss in case of any unexpected events such as a website hack or server failure. With cPanel, you can easily create backups of your website.

The frequency of website backups depends on how frequently you update your website content. If you update your website daily, it’s recommended to back up your website daily. However, if you update your website weekly or monthly, then you can perform backups on a weekly or monthly basis.

Here are the steps to create a website backup with cPanel:

  1. Log in to your cPanel account and navigate to the “Backup” section.

  2. Click on the “Backup” icon.

  3. Under “Full Backup,” click on “Download a Full Website Backup.”

  4. Select “Home Directory” under “Backup Destination” and enter your email address in the “Email Address” field.

  5. Click on the “Generate Backup” button.

  6. You will receive an email notification when the backup process is complete.

It’s also a good practice to store your website backups in an external location, such as a cloud storage service or an external hard drive, to ensure that you have a copy of your website in case of any disaster.
